About
Maddison’s Communitea is a Sacramento-based women owned business centered on reproductive health, herbal care education, and community healing. This buisness creates spaces for women & womb carriers to learn how herbs can support them through different stages of life, including menstrual cycle phases, prenatal, and postpartum care. The project offers small, intentional online tea gatherings where participants learn how to make their own blends, understand the role of different herbs, and find safe, ethically sourced ingredients. It also includes the creation of a local resource guide and the distribution of free tea kits through Little Free Libraries and community organizations in Black neighborhoods across Sacramento. The goal is to make holistic care feel accessible, practical, and rooted in community.
Meet the founder
Born and raised in Sacramento, CA, Maddison Brodeur (23) recently graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with degrees in Sociology and Community Studies. Throughout her four years in higher education, she was deeply involved in the campus community, holding more than ten leadership positions on and off campus. In fall 2024, Maddison became a trained community doula and now lives in Sacramento, while also working as a regional Coordinator for Girl Scouts. These experiences have helped shape her passion for racial justice, public policy, and community-based research. As a speaker, Maddison has delivered three commencement speeches in June 2025 for Stevenson College, the Community Studies program, and the African American Resource & Cultural Center (AARCC) Black Graduation. Crowned Miss Black Sacramento 2025 and formerly Miss Black Teen Sacramento Princess 2020, she approaches her work with a strong sense of responsibility to her community and is deeply grateful for the education, mentorship, and community she found through her college experience.

Maddison completed her Doula Certification Training through Black Women's Birthing Justice in Oakland in Fall 2024. Rooted in the belief that everyone deserves to feel cared for, informed, and supported, her work focuses on creating spaces of belonging where birthing people and families can navigate pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with confidence, community, and compassion.
In Fall 2025, Maddison was crowned Miss Black Sacramento 2025, an honor that reflects her longstanding commitment to community, mentorship, and service. Through her platform, she works to foster belonging and connection while encouraging Black girls and young women to embrace their identities, share their stories, and step confidently into their leadership potential.

Maddison Brodeur, a 22-year-old Sacramento native and former Miss Black Sacramento, is part of a new generation of Gen Z Black women changing birthing care in their communities by providing health education, advocacy, and physical and emotional support for pregnant and postpartum people before, during, and after childbirth.
